Anyone teaching how to hypnotize yourself techniques has to deal with naysayers. Many people think that hypnosis is silly, or that it is something that has no real effect on the body and that it is only meant for stage shows and magic acts. It is not their fault for thinking this, given that hypnosis has often been branded the cousin of superstition with plenty of films portraying mad doctors trying to hypnotize patients for their own evil ends. Hypnosis is also branded as arbitrary and unscientific, but you only have to do a little searching online to realize that hypnosis is based on science and that it really does work, even if many early methods of hypnosis were discovered by accident.
Try before you buy any Self Hypnosis Product
Before you reach for your money in search of a hypnotherapist, try doing a little hypnosis on yourself, or in other words, putting yourself in a light trance. How to hypnotize yourself techniques really do work, regardless of what the naysayers point out. You might think it is impossible to hypnotize yourself, but it is actually easy, and this is the best place to start if you want to see if it helps you with common problems such as stress and anxiety. You might be worried over the safety of hypnosis, but you shouldn’t be, because hypnosis is nothing more than an enhanced and deeply focused mental state; it will not make you lose control of yourself, render you unconscious, or make you do anything against your will. You have no doubt been in a hypnotic trance before, with common examples such as high focus and daydreaming.
What makes a trance effective is that it makes you more suggestible, and provides a quick route to the power of your subconscious mind. A trance will thus make you more highly receptive to suggestions that you provide yourself, helping to build positive thoughts in your subconscious, such as losing weight or giving up smoking.
Hypnotize yourself into a trance state
The first step is to find an appropriate place to hypnotize yourself. It needs to be a relaxed and dim setting, such as in a study or lounge with a small light, with you sitting comfortably on a sofa or armchair. This trance is not about falling asleep, so you should not lay down. Disturbances will ruin the hypnosis process, so be sure to be in an isolated place that you can not be disturbed for a minimum of thirty minutes.
Staring the hypnosis trance
To begin find something inconspicuous across the room above your line of sight to focus on. You should feel the strain on your eyes as you focus on the object. As you stare, start thinking to yourself that your eyelids are becoming heavier and heavier. Repeat these thoughts, and eventually your eyelids will actually feel heavy, and you should let them close when it feels like you cannot keep them open anymore.
Once your eyes are shut, relax your entire body, and as you feel every part of you from your head to your toes relax, take a deep breath and hold it for ten seconds, and then slowly exhale. As you exhale, think of calmness and serenity, and as you feel the warmth and calm inside you increase, continue to breathe slowly, and make sure you embrace this increase.
This process of breathing in and holding in for ten seconds can be repeated, and with each repetition you should feel yourself slip deeper and deeper into a state of hypnosis, and you should stop this holding of breath once you feel you are at the right level. You started by wanting to hypnotize yourself, and now you are officially in the hypnosis state. In this state, you should feel perfectly relaxed and at ease, and at this point you are in the most suggestible state to bring in thoughts that will help you address any problems that you have. For addressing something like weight loss, you could think of a picture of yourself in which you are thinner. Thinking of something like this has a very large impact when you have hypnotized yourself.
After you’ve hypnotized yourself
Now that you’ve hypnotized yourself you will stay in the trance for 10-15 minutes with the pictures of what you want. Take time to create the images in your mind and keep focused on the trance.
To come out of the trance, all you need to do is to tell yourself that you are going to count back from five, and once you reach one you will open your eyes and awaken from the trance. Start counting backwards from five, and as you count back, you will feel you eyelids becoming lighter and start to slowly open as you get closer to one. One you reach one you will open your eyes, feeling completely refreshed and awake.
You should hypnotize yourself no more than once a day and keep positive thoughts running in your mind as often as possible, even when not in a trance.
